Main Objectives: Cooperation with research institutions and think-tanks has two main objectives. The first is to strengthen developing countries’ research through graduate training and PhD programmes and to ensure that developing countries have access to knowledge and methods that can be applied to diagnose and treat disease,or inspect food or assess air quality in large cities, for example. The second objective it to create new knowledge that can be applied in development assistance, for example new knowledge about climate change, sustainable energy, the use of mobile phones in terms of mothers’ health, or value chains in the private sector.
